Obituary of Alfred Ivan Bradbury

Mr. Alfred Ivan Bradbury, age 90, a resident of Lakeland passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Lakeland Regional surrounded by family.  Mr. Bradbury was born February 9, 1931 in Alpena, Michigan to Edward Robert and Ella May (Millard) Bradbury.  He was a resident of Lakeland for many years, a United States Air Force Veteran, mechanic, machinist, tax assessor and retired as the county Equalization Director for Presque Isle, Michigan.  He was a builder having built seven homes.  He will be remembered as a string instrument maker – having made 15 violins, several guitars and mandolins as well as refurbishing many damaged instruments to be like new!  He enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, golfing and just being out in the woods!  His family was always priority for Alfred – working two jobs to provide yet taking time to take his children hunting & fishing.  He was a committed Christian – serving many years as greeter, usher and treasurer in his local Church of the Nazarene.

 

Alfred was a member of the Florida Holiness Camp in Lakeland.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother – Leonard; sister – Bertha and great granddaughter – Leah.  Alfred is survived by his loving family, wife of 70 years – Charlotte Bradbury of Lakeland; son – Steven Bradbury of Lakeland; 2 daughters – Linda (Duane) Rensberry of Highland, IL and Charlyn (John) Nutter of Bourbonnais, IL; 8 grandchildren; 7 foster grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held at 9:00 am with the Funeral Service at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 22 at the Florida Holiness Camp Grounds, 3335 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33803.  Graveside and Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:30 pm  at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.  Arrangements by:  Kersey Funeral Home.
