Obituary of Mark Elton Childs

Mr. Mark “Elton” Childs, Sr. age 84 a resident of Auburndale passed away Sun. Nov. 28, 2021 at Spring Lake Rehab. Mr. Childs was born March 25, 1937 in Altha, FL. to William Ross and Birdie (Gleason) Childs. He was an Auburndale resident since the 1950’s and was a retired Boiler Maker/Welder in the Construction Industry. Mark was a member of Polk City Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son – Mark Elton Childs, Jr.; 2 brothers – William Ross Childs, Jr. & Paul Eugene Childs. Elton is survived by his loving family, wife of 63 years – Vera Childs; 2 sons – Darryl Dwayne Childs and Tracy Donell (Jeanette) Childs; brother – Billy Ray Childs; sister – Faye (Robert) Williams; 9 grandchildren – Darryl Jr., Nicholas (Courtney), Jordan (Cady), Montana (Zach), Dakota (Jason), Amber (Matt), Nancy (Nate) Michelle & Tiffany; 10 great grandchildren – Kelsea, Lane, Kolton, Elijah, Brogan, Jernie, Ivory, Charli, Lincoln & Ryker. A celebration of Elton’s life will be held 11:00 am Fri. Dec. 3rd at Kersey Funeral Home.
