Obituary of Rev. George Walker Coleman Jr.

George Walker Coleman, Jr., age 72, passed peacefully on October 27, 2021, at home in Auburndale, FL after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.  
George was born on January 17, 1949, in Mami, FL to Winona Youngkin Coleman and George Walker Coleman, Sr.  He graduated from Miami Senior High ’67 where he met his wife, of almost 52 years, Victoria Minette Sibert Coleman.  He was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology ’71 where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (Gamma Tau) fraternity.  George was commissioned into the United States Army.  He served from 1971- 1977, achieving the rank of Captain.  George was a helicopter pilot during his service.  
After leaving the military, he spent a short time in custom home building before beginning a career in Christian Ministry.  He was a Southern Baptist Ordained Minister of Camps and Conference Centers in full-time service to the Lord for 35 years.  
After retiring from the ministry, George began making magic at Walt Disney World as a Monorail Pilot until he transitioned to the Disney Cruise Line in Cruise Travel Planning.  His professional career ended in 2019 following the diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis.  
George is survived by a brother, Edwin Leon Coleman (Burnet, TX); his wife, Minette Coleman (Auburndale, FL); and 3 daughters, Treva Elizabeth Coleman, Sarah Lynn Brant (Matt), and Christina Marie Coleman; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-grand-child, all of Auburndale, FL.    
George was passionate about his work and enjoyed time with family and friends.  He was an avid golfer and sports fan.  He loved the beach and enjoyed cruise travel.  George was a wonderful husband, father, Pop, leader, co-worker, and friend.  His kindness and calming presence will be greatly missed.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale, FL.  A celebration of his life will be held on November 20, 2021 from 1pm-3pm.  Please call 912-506-6086 for location details.
