Obituary of Samuel Del Rio

Mr. Samuel Del Rio affectionately known as “Papi”, age 83 a resident of Lakeland, Florida passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Lakeland Regional surrounded by his family. Mr. Del Rio was born May 8, 1938 in Camuy, Puerto Rico to Domingo and Leonor (Raices) Del Rio. He was a resident of Lakeland since 2016 coming from Puerto Rico and was member of Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M.I. Arecibo Pueblo Church and Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M.I. Lakeland. Sam retired from Velcro USA in 1993 as a Hook & Loop Assembler. He enjoyed church, reading his Bible, spending time with his family, playing dominos, and baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers – Eddie, Luis, Eliseo & Willie and sisters – Raquel, Eva & Lydia. Sam is survived by his loving family, 2 sons – Samuel (Sarah) Del Rio, Jr. of Tampa, Florida and Richard (Mariel) Del Rio of Palm Harbor, Florida; daughter – Damaris (Corey) Jackson of Lakeland, Florida; 4 brothers – Hernan (Nerida) Del Rio of Puerto Rico, Daniel (Sonia) Del Rio of New Hampshire, Domingo Junior Del Rio of Puerto Rico and Edwin (Teresita) Del Rio of Jacksonville, Florida; sister – Ruth (Al) Torres of New Hampshire; 6 grandchildren – Michael, Marketta, Sophia, Angelina, Chuck and Chiana; 7 great grandchildren – Zionha, Arionha, Finn, Joshua, Caleb Reina and Maya. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Thursday, October 14th at Kersey Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Blvd Brandon, FL 33511.
