Obituary of Curtis Jay Handshoe

Curtis Jay Handshoe, age 13 a resident of Polk County, Florida passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 in Winter Haven, Florida due to an automobile accident along with his grandmother who also passed. Curtis was born March 23, 2008 in Haines City, Florida to Justin Clark Handshoe and Jennifer Lynn Grimes. Curtis was a lifetime Polk County resident and attended Stambaugh Middle School in Auburndale. He enjoyed singing, drawing, playing video games and spending time with family & friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother and maternal grandmother – Tonya Chewning. Curtis is survived by his mother - Jennifer Grimes and her boyfriend Daniel O’Brien; brother – Trevor Allen Grimes; stepfather – David Adkins; stepmother – Whitney Campbell; paternal grandfather – Clark Handshoe; maternal grandfather – Ronald Edgen; aunts – Amanda Zink and Destiny Chewning; uncles – Shane Chewning and his fiancée Kristy and Cameron Chewning and his wife Karen. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 3rd at Kersey Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Cemetery.
