Obituary of Margie P. Childs

On August 7, 2021, Margie Perry Childs passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice.  Born in Hamilton County, Florida, on March 6, 1949, she was the daughter of Reverend Roy and Eula Mae Perry of Winter Haven, Florida.  She attended Winter Haven High School.  She was an active member of Carpenter’s Home Church and later Southside Assembly of God.  She loved praying for and encouraging others.  Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who loved and knew her.  She enjoyed playing with her dog, Coco, sewing, baking, traveling in their RV, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elizabeth and Betty Lou, and brother Russell. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Billy Childs; daughter, Donna Roller and her husband, Brian; son, Colonel Kevin Childs and his wife, Kathy; ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Steadman and Judy Perry; brothers, Reverend Wallace Perry, Robbie Perry and Tom Perry; sisters-in-law, Faye Williams, Vera Childs, Dean Childs, Susan Perry and Angie Perry; brothers-in-law, Robert Williams and Elton Childs as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held on August 13, 2021, at Southside Assembly of God, Lakeland, Florida, with Reverend Phil Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10:00am with the funeral service starting at 10:00am.  Margie will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, at 1:30pm.
