Obituary of Nina Virginia Corbitt

Mrs. Nina Virginia Corbitt, age 87 a resident of Auburndale passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at Lakeland Regional surrounded by family. Mrs. Corbitt was born April 1, 1934 in Samson, Alabama to Barney W. and Elizabeth Mae (Jackson) Ward. She was a lifelong Auburndale resident, graduated from Winter Haven High School Class of 1952 and attended Westwood Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Haven. She retired from GTE after 35+ years of service as a Telephone Operator. She was a member of the GTE Union Steward IBEW and a member VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Nina enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years – Ralph Lemerial Corbitt, Sr.; 2 brothers – Gene & Wallace; 2 sisters – Lois & Jewel; grandson – Nicholas Nix and son–in-law – Robert Nix. Nina is survived by her loving family, son – Ralph L. Corbitt, Jr. of Auburndale; 2 daughters – Melissa L. Nix of Auburndale and Holly B. Noel and husband David Durham of Auburndale; 8 grandchildren – Michael, Gina, Jonathan, Stephani, Kimberly, Matthew, Justin & Randy; 2 gt grandchildren – Lindsay & Charlotte. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday, May 6th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
