Obituary of Warren "Jimmy" Woodard

Mr. Warren “Jimmy” Woodard, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born March 19, 1939 in Auburndale, Florida to Annie and Alfred Woodard. He graduated from Auburndale High School in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Deese, in October of that same year. They lived in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was stationed for six months, until he was shipped overseas to Europe and served until 1960. Jimmy worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for 37 years as a State Road Inspector and later as the Assistant Bituminous Engineer at the District Office in Bartow. He loved his family, enjoyed spending time with them and was always ready to help others with any need. He was a loving and devoted caregiver to several family members through their extended illnesses. His favorite pastime was listening to music and he liked many genres with country music as his favorite. His love of music began as a boy and was a lifelong source of enjoyment and comfort. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Auburndale. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie D. Woodard, his parents, sister Margaret Holliday and brother Bobby Woodard. He is survived by his daughter Kay (Bob) Stambaugh, granddaughters Meredith and Leah Stambaugh and nephew Greg (Debbie) Woodard. There will be a private family service due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 316 Lake Ariana Blvd., Auburndale.
