Obituary of James Wendell Brown
Mr. James Wendell Brown, age 74 a resident of Winter Haven passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Brown was born February 13, 1946 in Roanoke, Alabama to Marvin Jackson and Mary Irene (Walker) Brown. He was a Polk County resident since 1965 coming from Alabama with his wife. James owned and operated Brown’s Repair Service on 42nd Street for over 40 years. He took great pride in his welding and was known for being able to fix anything. He was a member of Carter’s Baptist Church in Lakeland. James enjoyed motorcycle riding, storytelling, socializing with people and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Susan Brown Dygert and brother – Eric Kelley. James is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rebecca Brown; daughter – Sherry Kelley and her husband Carl of Auburndale; son – Bronson Bowen and his wife Tanya of Winter Haven; 7 grandchildren – Melissa (Christian) Barbosa, James (Crystal) Dygert, Lindsay (Miguel) Barco, Jacob Kelley, Luke (Payton) Kelley, Payton Bowen and Cali Bowen; 3 great grandchildren – Annali, Cruz and Grayson. A memorial service will be 5:00 pm Saturday, January 16th at Kersey Funeral Home with a gathering beginning at 4. An inurnment at Auburndale Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
