Obituary of Joseph Edward Spann, Sr.

Mr. Joseph Edward Spann, Sr. age 93 a resident of Auburndale went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland. Mr. Spann was born January 10, 1928 in Douglas, Georgia to Wyatt Stephen and Princie Irene (Nichols) Spann. He was a resident of Polk County since the 1950’s coming from Georgia. Joe was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Owner/Operator/Mechanic in the Trucking Industry. Joe enjoyed tinkering around the house working on engines and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Marilee Spann; brother – Steve and 2 sisters – Doris & Sue. Joe is survived by his loving family, son – Joseph E. (Susie) Spann, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter – Marla (David) Lanier of Auburndale; 5 grandchildren – Lindsey (George) Tolis of Washington DC, Laney (Matt) Poye of Cocoa Beach, Leah Spann of New York City, Cassey Lanier of San Diego, California and Bobby Lanier of Auburndale; 3 great grandchildren – Alex, Daniel & Adelaide. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 14th at Auburndale Memorial Park, 1889 West Derby Ave., Auburndale.
