Obituary of Dorothy Agnes Finley

Mrs. Dorothy Agnes Finley, age 96 a resident of Auburndale passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Finley was born January 12, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Henry Eugene and Helena Elizabeth (Althoff) Hagene. She was a Polk County resident since 2007 coming from Illinois. Dorothy was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. She and her husband Tom were lifetime members of the American Legion Post 53 in Illinois and the Moose Lodge. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing, camping, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Thomas Clyde Finley, Jr.; son – Thomas Clyde Finley, III; brother – Paul and 3 sisters – Marie, Martha & Ruth. Dorothy is survived by her 5 daughters – Linda Lyerla of Auburndale, Florida, Kathleen Soto of Auburndale, Florida, Janet Miller of Winter Haven, Florida, Cynthia Osterling of St. Cloud, Florida and Angela Torti and her husband James of Collinsville, Illinois; brother – Hank Hagene of Sebastian Inlet, Florida; 20 grandchildren – Kristian, Andrew, Penny, Kenny, Preston, Dina, Michael, Anna, Lisa, Ernesto, Daniel, Tanya, Patrick, Brian, Michelle, Samantha, James Jr., Christopher, Brenden & Thomas; 39 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. (Following COVID rules of 25 people or less and face masks) A private visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday. Interment will be held Tuesday, July 21st at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
