Obituary of Glenda Ann King
Glenda Ann King, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed from this life into her eternal reward on Thursday, January 16th in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ann was born in Kinston, North Carolina on July 29, 1950 to James and Naomi Carter. She graduated high school at Orange Park High School, class of 1968. She spent a fulfilling career in the insurance industry, retiring from Lanier Upshaw in January, 2019.
Ann has been known throughout her life as a woman of love, compassion, and generosity and is loved by all who know her. She has a strong faith in Christ, and is a beloved friend to many.
Ann is preceded in death by her beloved step-father, Paul Carter.
She is survived by her mother, Naomi Carter of Tavares, Florida; three children, Johanna Eckford of Winter Haven, FL, Jennifer Eckford (John David Keller) of Jacksonville, FL, Calon King of Winter Haven, FL and step daughter, Amanda (Chris) Needham of Polk City, FL. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Courtney, Tyler, Makayla, Levi, Makya , Clayton, Alyssa, Whitney, Chase, Jayden, Gunner, and Bailey; and six great grandchildren. She is survived as well by three siblings; Glen (Judy) Turner of Asheville, NC, Wayne (Donna) Turner of Covington, GA and Erjell (Kevin) Shaw of Sunset Beach, NC.
A service of celebration will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd at the Legacy Community Church located at 201 Dickey Road, Auburndale. A viewing and visitation will begin at 4:30pm, with the service of celebration beginning at 5:30pm.
