Obituary of Eddie Turvin

Eddie Turvin, Ed, ET, age 70, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale surrounded by his beloved family on December 6, 2018.   He was born on July 17, 1948 in Dothan, Alabama to Reginald and Ollie Turvin.  Eddie was one of five children growing up in Auburndale, Florida. Eddie graduated from Auburndale High School in 1967. Enlisted in the United States Army August 7, 1967. He was SP-5 and an expert with a M-14 riffle.  On July 2, 1968 Eddie was deployed to Pleiku, Vietnam where he served as a radio lineman until returning home on June 30, 1969. Upon leaving the Army, Eddie served as a Winter Haven Police Department motorcycle officer and detective from 1970 – 1980. In 1993, Eddie, along with his partner Tim Revell, founded Tradition Central Air in Winter Haven with two employees. Over the past 25 years, Tradition continued to grow and expand, with more than twenty-five employees. After a long and successful career, Eddie retired in 2016. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He had a servant’s soul and a heart of gold. Eddie had a joke for every situation. No matter the day, Eddie had a joke that would make the room roar. Eddie loved cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, The Florida Gators and most recently the University of Central Florida Knights. Eddie enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, traveling, golf, and spending time with family and friends. You could always find Eddie working on his perfectly manicured lawn. He is a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale. Member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Auburndale Grace Riders and Heartland Community Church of Winter Haven Faith Riders motorcycle ministry. Loved ones that cleared the path for Eddie are his beloved mother Ollie (Bowden) , father Reginald, brothers Ezzie and Ernie. Loved ones that will miss Eddie until they meet again are:  Wife and high school sweetheart, Debbie (Allen) Turvin; daughter and son-in-law Tresa (Turvin) and Steven Warner; step daughter and son-in-law Shannah (Ellis) and Mark Richards; step son John Ellis; his five grandchildren that were the light of his life: Lexi, Carson, Elena, Ashby, and Weston; sisters Elna and brother-law Bobby Grant and Missy and brother in-law Doug Roggow. And so the story goes on until we see our precious husband, father, pops, papa, brother, uncle, great uncle, best friend, and mentor.
