Obituary of Alberta Marie Brandeberry

Mrs. Alberta “BABE” Marie Brandeberry, age 81 a resident of Lakeland passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 ending her battle with Alzheimer‘s at home with her family by her side. Babe was born August 21, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Albert and Mildred Chevalier. She was a Polk County resident since 1976 coming from Ida, Michigan. Babe graduated from the Bedford High School Class of 1955 then continued her education by graduating from the Toledo Hospital of Nursing in 1958 as a Registered Nurse. Babe was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years before retiring (she worked in Nursing Homes, Home Healthcare Nurse & Hospitals). She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburndale where she served on many committees. She was a very active member of the Auburndale Sirosis Club. Babe had a love for sports going to many of her grandchildren’s events & activities. She enjoyed tennis, golf, traveling and dancing with the love of her life Jim, her high school sweetheart. She was very devoted to her family, friends and community. For the past 3 years Babe participated in the Alzheimer’s Walk of Lakeland with her team –“Babe’s Bunch”. She is preceded in death by her parents and oldest sister – Leoma Knapp. Babe is survived by her loving & devoted family; Husband of 60 yrs.: Jim Brandeberry of Lakeland, 2 Son:Rick (Teresa) Brandeberry of Wauchula, Bob (Paige) Brandeberry of Lake Alfred, Daughter: Lisa (Bobby) Williams of Auburndale, And a special “exchange student” daughter Sue Becker Carson of Townsville, Australia & Lillian, 10 Grandchildren,  4 Great Grandchildren, 1 Sister:Charlotte (Ken) Hyatt of Auburndale, 2 Brothers: John (Bonnie) Chevalier of Auburndale, Tom (Beth) Chevalier of South Carolina.

A celebration of Babe’s life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, December 1st at the First United Methodist Church, 316 Lake Ariana Blvd., Auburndale. A gathering will begin at 10:00 am at the church.
