Obituary of James Robert Bruner

Mr. James Robert Bruner, age 82 a resident of Auburndale passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 in Tampa with his family. Mr. Bruner was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Marianna, FL. to J.B. and Viola (Weston) Bruner. He was a Polk Co. resident since 1968. Jim graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Commercial Art. He also had degrees/certificates for Marketing, Management & Physical Education. He was a United States Army Reserve Veteran and a lifetime member of the Winter Haven Optimist Club. Jim taught at Winter Haven High School and Auburndale High School. Jim was a Stephen Minister and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Auburndale. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tony York. Jim is survived by his loving family; Wife of 49 years: Darlene Bruner of Auburndale, Brother-in-Law: Doug (Beth) York of Bradenton, Sister-in-Law: Wanda York of Locust, NC, Nieces & Nephews: Joshua, Jason, Nicholas, Eddie, Lisa & Chris, Gt. Nieces & Nephews: Dylan, Taylor, Savannah, Charlotte, Audrey, Edward, Alison, Kelsey, Megan, Samantha & Chris Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mr. Bruner’s name to; First United Methodist Church (Youth Ministry), 316 Lake Ariana Blvd., Auburndale, FL. 33823.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, 316 Lake Ariana Blvd., Auburndale.
