John Edward Thompson III, age 58, of Auburndale fl passed away July 9th 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. John was born April 13th 1960 in Winter Haven Fl to John E. Thompson Jr and Dolores Hall Thompson. He grew in Winter Haven Fl before meeting the love of his life Deborah Smallwood and settling down in Auburndale, FL. John and Deborah married July 2nd 1983 on the front lawn of the Southern Mansion at Cypress Gardens. John built a career as and IT Engineer of 28 years with Pepperidge Farms in Lakeland FL and recently started a second career with Tompkins International in Orlando, FL. John enjoyed saltwater fishing at both the Skyway Pier and Ft Desoto. He also enjoyed tinkering with motors and classic cars in his spare time. John influenced the lives of countless children as a youth basketball and baseball coach in Auburndale. John loved his German Shepherd Lokie and spending time with his three grandsons. John was the most compassionate and loving family man. He was a loving, loyal husband, father, grandfather and provider. He is preceded by both his parents and grandparents. John is survived by his wife of over 35 years: Deborah Smallwood Thompson, son: Jonathan (Brittney) Thompson, Daughter: Katherine (Michael) King, grandsons: Samuel, Levi, Daniel Thompson of Auburndale, FL, Brother: Samuel (Vicki) Thompson of Dallas, GA, brother and sister-in-law: Gee and Judy Achong, nieces: Amanda and Emily Achong of Miami, aunt and uncle: Pat and H.L. Adams of Winter Haven, FL.
