Obituary of Maria Isabel Morales - Ramirez

Ms. Maria Isabel Ramirez, also known as Chabela, age 86, passed away peacefully on Mon. June 4th at Consulate Health Care Nursing Home in Lakeland. She was born April 10, 1932 in Lima, Peru to Daniel and Carmen (Morales) Ramirez. She was a 35 year resident of Lakeland and a retired Executive Secretary from the Ministry of Finance in Lima.

Chabela is survived by her sisters, Marcela Pesaque and Hilda Perez Pesaque, her nephews, Fernando Perez, Mariano Perez and David Grados and her nieces Magali Noriega and Marcela Noriega.  Chabela will be missed by all, including her extended family in Peru and her close friends in Lakeland.

Chabela was a wonderful ‘second Mom’ to her nieces and nephews, for whom she was always “Mama Capucha.” Chabela had a remarkable and adventurous inner strength and a gigantic resilience for life. In the last few years, she lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with friends and family, going to church, dancing, connecting with old friends in Peru and listening to the music of Jorge Negrete, who she often described as the love of her life.

A memorial mass will be held at 1 pm Sat. June 16th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 210 W. Lemon St, Lakeland, FL 33815.
