Obituary of William Dale Herndon

William Dale Herndon, age 68, passed away on April 8, 2018 in Winter Haven.  He was born on August 4, 1949 to James Herndon & Madeline Harnage-Knight in Eagle Lake, Florida.  He was a lifetime resident of Polk County and also a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  William worked for Saddle Creek Logistics for 22 years as a truck driver, was a lifetime member of Central Baptist Church of Winter Haven, loved playing softball, working and Volunteering with Wreaths of America.  William is preceded in death by: his parents, Brothers: Frankie & Johnny, Granddaughter: Michaela, and Daughter-in-law: Mandy.  He is survived by: Wife of 25+ years: Linda Herndon. Daughter: Melissa Herndon-Jones, Son: Michael Herndon, both of Lakeland.  Sisters: Mary Bowman of Winter Haven, Maude “Pinky” (Frank) Hough of Gainesville, Ruby Herndon of Winter Haven, Ellen (John) Kim of Lakeland and Ann Ingram of Winter Haven. Brothers: Earl (Bobbie) Herndon of Lake Wales, Sam (Kathy) Herndon of Winter Haven and Hershel Knight of Eagle Lake.  Step-Mother: Maxine Herndon of Winter Haven.  Grandchildren: John, Joshua, Tyler, Brandy, Logan and Layna.  Great-Grandchildren: Jayden, Kensley, Aubrey, and Peyton.
