Obituary of Charles Eugene Hatcher
Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Charles Eugene Hatcher, age 92, passed away in Auburndale, FL on January 27, 2018. He was born on April 5, 1925 to Charles and Ruby Hatcher in Panama City, Florida. He was a 35 year resident of Winter Haven, FL living previously in Destin, FL. Charles served for 33 years in the United States Air Force and was involved in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. During the Cold War he piloted both the B-47 Stratojet and B-58 Hustler supersonic bomber. After retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Charles went on to earn a Bachelors of Science Degree from Troy State University. He is preceded in death by his son Charles L. Hatcher. Surviving are his wife of 73 years; Frances Prevatte Hatcher; brother, Vincent L. Solomonte and wife Wanda of Odessa, FL; son, Larice E. Hatcher and wife Lisa of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law Linda S. Hatcher of Winter Haven, FL; four grandchildren and five great-grand children. He and his wife, Frances, were active members of Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in name of Lt. Col. Charles Hatcher, 105 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, FL, 33823.
